Values – important?

Some of us go blindly through life without thinking much about the effects of what we think, say or do have on ourselves, others, our environment, or the globe.

Hopefully, this isn’t intentional, it’s just how we live.  We have busy lives with career, family, hobbies, travel, and so on.  But how much do we think about how our life aligns with our values?  As I said at first, we’re often not conscious of the effects that we have on everything and everybody, until perhaps we realise our values are not being met.

So how would you define your values?   Your values are the things that you believe are important to the way you live and work.  They (should) determine your priorities, and, deep down, they’re probably the measures you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to.  When the things that you do and the way you behave match your values, life is usually good – you’re satisfied and content. But when these don’t align with your personal values, that’s when things feel… wrong. This can be a real source of unhappiness, so identifying them is important.

When I joined TROPIC SKINCARE, what attracted me was their values.  They never, ever test on animals, they never, ever use toxins, they use sustainably sourced ingredients, they’re double offset carbon negative (one of the few companies in Europe to achieve this), they invest in the Acre Amazonian Rainforest Conservation project in South America, they support The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, protecting thousands upon thousands of hectares of forest.  They support charities, one of which provides school days for children living in the remotest communities on the earth, where normally literacy is at zero, and girls are married off as young as thirteen.

So in joining with them, my values for community, honesty, compassion, generosity, health, dependability, respect, and so on, are met.  I can say with pride that being a Tropic Ambassador is giving me the chance to make a difference, not only to my own life, but also to that of my customers, who’re benefitting from using pure, clean, effective products, and to that of my team, for whom an opportunity to build a secure financial future is in their hands, and I can help them achieve it.

This is about all of us, and our beautiful earth and its inhabitants.
